Company Overview
Neurofibromatosis Northeast (NF Northeast) is a nonprofit voluntary health organization with a mission to bring hope to those affected by neurofibromatosis and allied disorders. NF is a is a genetic disorder of the nervous system that causes tumors to form on the nerves anywhere in or on the body at any time. NF affects all races, all ethnic groups and both sexes equally. NF affects more people worldwide than cystic fibrosis, Huntington's disease, Tay-Sachs, and muscular dystrophy combined! NF Northeast guides patients and families throughout their NF journey with education, resources, and advocacy. NF Northeast also funds research, focused on NF1, NF2 related schwannomatosis, and schwannomatosis.
Company History
Founded by Bert and Karen Peluso in 1988, in honor of their daughter Mia, NF Northeast has funded over $3 million in research grants, and through their advocacy, have been pivotal in generating over $600 million in federally funded NF research.
